Mainland still best investment destination for Taiwan entrepreneurs: spokesperson
BEIJING - With its ever-growing economy, improving economic structure and a more open market, the mainland is still the best investment destination for Taiwan entrepreneurs, a spokesperson told a press conference Wednesday.
Ma Xiaoguang, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, made the remarks in response to a media question about recent cross-Straits economic and trade exchanges.
Many highlights were seen in recent economic and trade exchanges across the Taiwan Strait, said Ma, citing four cooperative activities held in mainland cities in September, which sealed a combined 47.56 billion yuan (about $6.68 billion) in investment deals.
A weeklong cross-Straits cooperative activity will be held in Chongqing Municipality in October and the 18th Electronic Manufacturing Exposition (eMEX Suzhou) China will be held in November in the city of Suzhou, according to Ma.
Taiwan compatriots are welcome to participate in the two events to seek new development opportunities, he said.
